Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A young Berlin hustler named Theo (Andreas Herder) strikes up a unexpected and touching relationship with his neighbor Marie (Dina Leipzig) even though they live in completely different worlds.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): As Theo and Marie become closer, she tells him that he has cat’s eyes and how she always wanted a cat, but her boyfriend Paul (Cyrille Rey-Coquis) claims to be allergic and doesn’t want one. Near the end of the film, Theo shows up at Marie’s apartment and presents her with a female black kitten.
Marie is touched but explains that Paul, who left her previously, is now back. Paul seems less than enthusiastic about both the kitten and Theo. Marie walks Theo back to the door.
Later when Theo is back in his apartment, Marie knocks on the door. She explains sadly she can’t keep the kitten because of Paul.
Theo is then seen sitting alone in his apartment as the little kitten plays nearby.
Final Mewsings: Kittens only make good presents if you check with the would-be owner first.
Many thanks to Nick Wale for letting us know about the kitten in this film!
