Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: The Three Stooges go from being carpenters to landing jobs as policemen and try to thwart a gorilla burglar.
Kitty Cameo: The trio ends up at an antique shop where Curly is left to keep watch while the other look for clues. Curly sits down in a rocking chair, not noticing the long-haired cat sitting next to it.
We get some moments of the classic “cat’s tail swishes precariously close to the rocking rocker” moments.
Kitty Carnage Warning! The rocker does eventually land on the cat’s tail and it screeches. Chances are the scene was shot without anyone actually in the chair and not much pressure used.
Later Curly is keeping watch and marches backwards. Once again he manages to step on the poor cat’s tail, sending it screeching and Curly running in fright.
Joe Besser would later do a series of comedy shorts and in 1951 an outing titled ‘Fraidy Cat would re-use the footage of the cat from this short.
Final Mewsings: Cats should fear comedians in rocking chairs
