Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: Stan the Dog (voiced by Stephen Full) feels like he causes the kids nothing but trouble and wishes he were cat, then his wish comes true.
Featured Feline: Cat actor Frosty returns to the show as Stan’s cat counterpart (also voiced by Stephen Full). Stan goes to sleep on the back porch and wakes up as a cat with the same kind of markings.
Stan is visited by a guardian angel named Ralph (Steve Valentine) only he can see. Seeing Stan is down, Ralph performs some sleight of hand to cheer him up.
Stan is also happy to learn that he’s still married and has kids, although they are now kittens instead of puppies.
Stan is convinced the family will be doing better without him but is surprised to find Avery (G. Hannelius) and Tyler James (Blake Michael) very much changed and fighting.
Likewise little Chloe (Francesca Capaldi) has slipped deeply into her own fantasy world.
Ellen (Beth Littleford) is trying to be a judge on a television show and coming up with horrible formats.
Stan sets out to try to prevent Avery from vandalizing her school which will start her on a path of self-destruction.
Trying to find someone to help him stop Avery, Stan tries to get through to Ellen, but she just puts a little sombrero on his head.
Stan then tries to talk to Chloe but she just meows back at him since he can’t speak English any more.
Finally Stan goes to the school to try to stop Avery but realizes everything is out of his control and wishes he were a dog again.
The talented animal actors for the show were provided by Good Dog Animals.
Final Mewsings: We wonder how many dogs secretly wish they were cats.
