Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: The Wade family moves to Mexico to take over an abandoned doll factory and make a fortune, not figuring on its unfortunate proximity to an evil ancient burial site.
Kitty Cameo: The evil spirit released from the burial site animates the dolls which turn homicidal. Halfway through the film Luis (Will Gotay), one of the workers at the factory, is there late when he hears a noise. He goes to investigate, unaware of the dolls moving behind him. As he approaches some cardboard boxes a spring-loaded gray and white cat pops out and scares him.
Luis laughs as the cat scurries away. He’s not laughing a moment later when the dolls attack him. This is the first time the cat is seen in the movie but not the last.
Later when the Wade’s son Jimmy (Chris Demetral) is in the factory, he hears a noise and turns to see the same cat, jumping down from a beam to the top of a barrel.
Still later when the father Elliot (Sam Bottoms) is in the plant alone, he is distracted by the same cat.
Final Mewsings: Evil spirits leave cats alone so they can distract unwary victims.
Many thanks to Nick Wale for letting us know about the cat in this movie!
