Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Twin trapeze artists George and Jules de Lisle (both played impressively by Herbert Lom) are the targets of scam artist Mike Bergen (Terence de Marney) who sends his girlfriend Gloria (Phyllis Dixey) to woo Jules in a robbery scheme.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): After not only being conned out of their lottery winnings by Mike and Gloria but beaten by Mike’s goons as well, Jules and George are sitting in their trailer brooding. George is on his bunk petting a lovely black cat.
After getting down for more liquor, George continues to pet the cat who mews plaintively.
George gets an idea as he talks to the cat. “Would you go to the law when they’ve hurt you? No, you wouldn’t. You would scratch and bite and . . . “
George looks up at his brother as the same thought crosses their mind.
The camera closes in on the cat’s paw as George squeezes it, unsheathing the kitty’s claws.
Final Mewsings: Cats would go to the law if the law spoke cat.
