Synopsis: Gary Hobson (Kyle Chandler) tries to find out the source of his mysterious newspapers and in the process confuses a reporter who wonders how he knows so much about the story she is working on.
Cinema Cat: As always the cat delivers the newspaper to Gary.
Earlier in the series Gary is given a book called Lost Chicago in which he finds a photograph of an elderly newspaper man with a cat sitting behind him. Gary notices that the cat looks very much like the cat which delivers his newspaper each day. Gary is looking at this photograph again in this episode.
Gary traces the photograph to a newspaper office which merged with the newspaper whose issues he is receiving a day early. He asks Morris (John M. Watson Sr.), a man who handles the archives at the paper if he remembers the man in the photograph, but he doesn’t remember until Gary mentions the cat. Then the man remembers that Lucias Snow was his name and that he was a typesetter who seemed to know in advance about stories. Morris says they used to call the cat “Snow’s Cat.”
A female reporter named Meredith Carson (Leslie Hope) and Gary become linked and at one point he is hiding with her when the cat appears and brings the newspaper. Gary is surprised to see the cat there and then has to keep the reporter from seeing the newspaper.
At the end of the episode they have found a trunk that belonged to Lucias Snow. Gary, Marissa (Shanesia Davis), and Chuck (Fisher Stevens) anxiously open the trunk with the cat watching as well.
Is the cat the spirit of Lucias Snow’s cat? Hmmmm . . . .
Final Mewsings: Every cat has a bit of mystery about them.
