Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: An average Joe named Ed (Matthew McConaughey) is chosen to have his life broadcast 24 hours a day on television and finds that fame is a double-edged sword.
Featured Feline: Ed falls in love with a girl named Shari (Jenna Elfman) but she does not get good ratings so the network brings in a model named Jill (Elizabeth Hurley) to be Ed’s love interest. The first time Ed is in her apartment we see a large gray and white Persian cat on an end table.
Ed returns to Jill’s apartment the next night when the world is expecting them to have sex. When Ed enters the apartment Jill offers him something to eat. The cat jumps up on the table.
Casting director Cynthia (Ellen DeGeneres) had Jill walk her dog in the park to meet Ed, so Ed is surprised to see that Jill owns a cat. She explains that the dog was a friend’s and she only owns Isabella.
Kitty Carnage Warning! Later Ed and Jill start to make love on a table but he ends up losing his balance and falling off. Jill asks if he’s okay and he says something broke his fall. We then see Isabella’s tail sticking out from beneath Ed and her angry cries from beneath.
Both Ed and Isabella end up being wheeled out of the apartment on guerneys. One EMT says he thinks Isabella just has a broken leg.
Final Mewsings: Cats would prefer it if people practiced safer sex.
