Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A small mining town is invaded by a variety of giant spiders which sprout from a recent chemical spill.
Kitty Cameo: Early in the film Deputy Pete Willis (Rick Overton) is seen working on some drywall in his house at night. A tabby cat named Zeke is watching him work.
Zeke sees a large spider enter the wall through an uncovered vent opening and Zeke goes in after it.
Kitty Carnage Warning! Pete’s wife Emma (Jane Edith Wilson) is angry that Pete let Zeke get behind the drywall again and they get some cat food to entice Zeke to come out, even though he hates cat food (they lie and say it is tuna). They are shocked when they hear the sound of Zeke screaming and crying and fighting with the spider. As they battle their way up one wall and down another behind the plasterboard, their impressions are slammed into the drywall. In the end both Zeke and the spider are killed when they come in contact with an overhead light and are electrocuted. Emma is so angry over Zeke’s death she leaves Pete.
Four cats were reportedly on call for the role of Zeke but cat actor Slick got the part.
Final Mewsings: Spiders notwithstanding, make sure your cats can’t get into your walls!
