Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Subtitled A Love Story from Beyond. A couple, Cata (Dora) and Derro (Merlin) are startled to find one of their doors stuck to a wall and the empty doorway a portal to other dimensions in this inventive short film from Argentina.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): After discovering the door stuck to the wall, the couple go outside to see if they can find out what happened. As Cata looks down from the upper story she sees their elderly neighbors (Futema Amadei and Oscar Pavanetto) standing and holding a longhair Persian cat.

That night the couple is playing chess when Cata gets the urge to try to open the door. As she does so, the cat appears in the hallway behind Derro.

After going to bed, Derro wakes up to find Cata not in bed and the cat, which is now adorned with strange metal pieces, looking at him from the doorway.

The cat always seems to be nearby when strange things start happening.

At the end of the film, the cat is sitting in the doorway of the house as the couples’ girls leave and the door closes.

This clever film uses practical effects in a very smart and entertaining way. The poster for the film includes a picture of a tabby cat which is actually hanging on the wall behind the mysterious doorway.

Final Mewsings: Cats are definitely fascinated with doors.
