Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: Father Brown (Mark Williams) is surprised to be invited to a poetry recital at the home of Leonard Quinton (Robert Cavanah). Once there he learns that Quinton has been informed by his Indian spiritual advisor that he will die soon and so he wants Father Brown’s assurance that he will look after his wife, Martha (Ruth Gemmell). Soon after, Quinton is found hanged in his conservatory, but was it suicide or murder?
Kitty Cameo: Father Brown and the other guests are shown into the room where Quinton is waiting for them holding his pet tortoiseshell cat.
Once everyone has come in he puts the cat down on the floor.
As Father Brown quizzes Quinton as to why he was invited, the cat makes its way over to Martha Quinton who quickly shoos the kitty away.
Kitty Carnage Warning! After the recital, Quinton goes for a nap and the guests take a stroll in the grounds where they discover a Poison Garden. Lady Felicia (Nancy Carroll) trips over something and sprains her ankle. What she has tripped over is the dead body of the cat. Father Brown is kind enough to offer a prayer for the deceased animal. Not only that, but the discovery of the cat later helps Father Brown solve the mystery.
Final Mewsings: Bless those who bless the kitties.
