Lost Films of Fatty Arbuckle DVD

Keystone Film Company
Starring:
Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle, Al St. John, Minta Durfee
Directed by: Roscoe Arbuckle

Synopsis: Fatty (Roscoe Arbuckle) visits his girl (Minta Durfee) at the Swift Footers Athletic Club where preparations are underway for a dance.  The trouble starts when Fatty’s rival (Al St. John) puts the moves on Fatty’s girl.  Their fight escalates into a brick and rock throwing match in front of the Chinese laundry downstairs.  Fatty then sics his loyal dog, Luke, on the rival, sending him fleeing.  Later, things come to a head at the dance itself.

Kitty Cameo: Luke the pitbull terrier was a common co-star in many of Arbuckle’s silent comedies, often chasing either Al St. John or Buster Keaton around.  Luke’s featured trick was not only chasing people at a remarkable speed but climbing a ladder.  When Al tries to escape Luke on a rooftop Luke is quick to follow.  Luke only stops the pursuit when he sees a white cat with black markings sitting nearby.

Luke goes after the cat, who arches his back and leaps into the air, then stands his ground, hissing and swiping at the dog.
