Starring: Carl ‘Alfalfa’ Switzer, Tommy “Butch” Bond
Directed by: Gordon Douglas
Synopsis: Alfalfa accidentally gets on the bad side of Butch and has to pretend to have a broken leg to avoid a fight.
Cat Cattle Call: The short begins with Buckwheat walking along after catching a big fish. A large group of cats are following him.
After Butch gets angry at Alfalfa the Gang comes up with the idea of saying Alfalfa’s leg is broken to avoid fighting. But Butch insists on seeing the broken leg, so they decide to use the fish Buckwheat caught to substitute as the broken leg. Alfalfa sticks his leg in a hole in the bed and they lay the fish beside it, covered with a sock, so it looks like a deformed leg. At one point Buckwheat and Porky open to the door of the clubhouse to Junior and two cats enter with him.
The cats make a beeline for beneath the bed and Spanky and Alfalfa have to get them out before Butch comes.
When Butch and Woim arrive, the black and white cats are hanging around outside the window above Alfalfa’s bed. Spanky explains they are Alfalfa’s cats and are worried about him.
They manage to fool Butch until a bucket of crabs start pinching Alfalfa’s toes and he screams in pain. Butch offers to get a doctor and opens the door, allowing several cats to run inside and go under the bed.
The white cat crawls up through the hole in the bed and Alfalfa pulls it out from beneath the sheets, giving away their ruse. Needless to say Butch is not amused.
Final Mewsings: Cats know when something fishy is going on!
