Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: In this slightly more accurate representation of the original story by Mary Shelley, Dr. Victor Frankenstein (Leonard Whiting) brings life to a creature of his own making (Michael Sarrazin) only to come to hate him.
Kitty Cameo: During the second half of the film Frankenstein has helped Dr. Polidori (James Mason) create a beautiful female creature named Prima (Jane Seymour). The creature is lovely but somewhat vicious in nature. She is seen sitting on a bed stroking a white cat named Constantine.
As she pets the cat, Prima recites the poem: “I love little kitty, his coat is so warm, and if I don’t hurt him he’ll do me no harm.”
Kitty Carnage Warning: After finishing the poem, Prima starts to throttle the poor cat. In reality Jane Seymour was likely just pretending to put pressure around the cat’s neck.
Frankenstein’s wife Elizabeth (Nicola Pagett) enters as Constantine scratches Prima’s hand and runs away.
Final Mewsings: Cats don’t like people who try to test nursery rhymes.
Many thanks to Ted Davis for letting us know about the cat in this movie!
