Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: On Frightday the 13th all the ghosts rush out to scare people, but Casper (voiced by Alan Shay) befriends a black kitten instead and tries to help him find good luck.
Cartoon Cats: A man is standing outside a pet shop window playing with the kittens inside.
A stray black kitten shows up and rubs against the man’s leg.
Terrified of bad luck, the man backs into a ladder which causes a paint can to fall on his head.
The kitten hides behind Casper and finds a friend in a fellow misunderstood creature. Casper names the kitten Lucky.
Casper suggests they find Lucky a good luck charm. First they look for a four leaf clover.
Lucky pulls one up from the ground which angers a mole.
But the mole, once he dons his glasses and can see, is terrified by Casper.
Casper tries to think of what to try next. He spots a horseshoe hanging over a dog house.
Tricking the bulldog into leaving the yard, Casper gives the horseshoe to Lucky.
He tells Lucky to kiss the horsehoe and then throw it over his shoulder. But it ends up hitting the bulldog on the head. The dog is not happy about this but is tricked into running in the opposite direction by Casper.
Seeing rabbit tracks, Casper suggests they have Lucky rub the rabbit’s foot.
While going through some bushes, Lucky accidentally starts following the wrong tracks.
And rubs himself against a bear’s foot!
The bear chases the terrified kitten . . .
. . . and corners him in a pile of clothes. The bear knocks away all the clothes except one hat with a hat pin.
After the bear slams his paw down onto the pin and runs away, Casper offers it to Lucky as his good luck charm. “See a pin and pick it up, and all the day you’ll have good luck.”
Final Mewsings: Black cats love anyone who can understand and appreciate them.
