Fun & Fancy Free (1947)

Directed by: Ward Kimball, Les Clark, John Lounsbery, Fred Moore, Wolfgang Reitherman

Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some slight spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: Jiminy Cricket introduces two animated shorts, Bongo and Mickey and the Beanstalk.

Kitty Cameo: As the film begins, Jiminy is in the library of a home. He sings briefly to a goldfish (apparently Cleo as seen in Pinocchio) before descending to the floor where he approaches a black cat (oddly enough an unknown cat character and not the kitten Figaro. Perhaps it was decided Figaro would not be menacing enough?)

After Jiminy pokes the cat in the nose with his umbrella, the cat bares its fangs. Jiminy takes this as a cue to run.

The cat chases Jiminy across the floor until Jiminy runs into another room and somehow slams the door shut in the cat’s face.

The cat peers angrily at Jiminy under the door. Jiminy then barks at the cat, who gets scared and runs away.
