Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: Jon Davis’ comic strip cat returns in this sequel.  Garfield (voiced again by Bill Murray) visits England where he accidentally changes places with a royal cat named Prince, enjoying the life of luxury despite the fact that an angry heir to Prince’s estate wants to get rid of him.

Cartoon Cat: There’s a little more going on in this sequel that makes it just slightly more enjoyable than the first film.  Garfield’s doppleganger, Prince (voiced by Tim Curry) is a fun character and he plans to rule the estate carrying on his owners’ respect of the many animals who live there.

In true Prince and the Pauper fashion, Garfield finds himself in the lap of luxury and enjoys himself immensly.

Prince, on the other hand, finds himself with Odie and Jon.  And while he is no longer pampered he realizes they are very loyal compadres.

Eventually Garfield and Prince reunite and together they help thwart the dastardly Dargis (Billy Connolly) and protect the estate from his nasty development plans.

Kitty Cameos: While there are many live-action animals in this film there are sadly not many cats.  Nermal and Arlene don’t even return.  The only real cats in the film can be seen when Garfield and Odie are briefly detained at the Kennels where Jon intends to leave them while he heads overseas.

Final Mewsings: Two Garfields are only a tiny bit more entertaining than one.
