Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: The residents of Mosby Manor are convinced they are being haunted by the late Uncle Mosby.
Kitty Cameo: This Mack Sennett short made for Educational Pictures offers up a bizarre twist on the classic fright comedies. One of the earliest gags in the film is when a white kitten is seen playing with a doll which for some reason is tied to a window shade pull. The shade shoots up and leaves a shadow that looks like someone has been hanged.
Stuffed Cats: Frightened, Mr. Martin (Andy Clyde), Marge (Marjorie Beebe) and Magnolia the Maid (Aline West) all run outside after hearing xylophone music. A stuffed cat is standing in the middle of the front yard for no apparent reason. Each of the people skirt around or jump over the fake cat then turn and yell, “Scat!” to it. They continue to yell “Scat!” as the scene fades.
Stuffed animals are seen around the house and the lawn cat can later be seen in the background inside the manor.
Final Mewsings: We prefer live cats to stuffed ones.
