Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A cowboy (Tom Keene) is talked into posing as Jerry Long, the heir of an old mining town, to deceive Jane Worth (Merna Kennedy), a fellow heir, into forfeiting her inheritence. Unbeknownst to the men trying to swindle Jane the man they asked to pretend to be Jerry Long is the man himself trying to find out what is really happening.
Kitty Cameos: At one point Jerry’s “valet”, Marty (Harry Bowen) sees a tall man going into the ghost town’s hotel. Jane and her Aunt Susan (Kate Campbell) follow Marty there to investigate. As they are tiptoeing through the creepy, dark abandoned hotel Aunt Susan doesn’t see a black cat lying on the floor.
Aunt Susan accidentally steps on the tail of a black cat, which screeches and runs away, scaring her.
A few moments later Jane spots two kittens in a small wicker container, one of them stepping out to look around. She calls to Aunt Susan to look. This may have been to explain why she didn’t follow Marty, who is grabbed moments later, but apart from this one quick shot and reference the kittens are never seen again.
Final Mewsings: Stepping on a cat’s tail isn’t funny, especially for the cat.
