Synopsis: Unhinged schoolteacher Morris Martin (John Waters) is convinced his wife, who was reportedly killed in a car crash, is still alive and goes to violent lengths to find her. Reporter / writer Tom Stewart (Colin Friels), who has secrets of his own, thinks Martin may be on to something.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Martin owns a longhair seal point cat (possibly a Balinese?) who first appears while walking in the man’s living room.

The first time Tom pays a visit to Martin’s home he enters through a gate before enduring a Spring Loaded Cat moment as the kitty inexplicably drops down from somewhere above.

In a later scene, Martin is holding the cat when he answers the door to Stewart.

The cat jumps down from a chair as the men walk from one room to another.

Trying to obtain more information about what is going on (and that’s not easy with this complicated plot!), Stewart snoops around Martin’s home. After observing Enderby (Shane Briant), another man involved in the mystery, break into the house and take away some videotapes, Stewart decides to break in as well. He witnesses the cat entering the house through a poorly constructed cat flap.

Stewart reaches in through the cat flap to unlock the bolt that just so happens to be beneath the doorknob. Even the cat can’t believe how stupid this design is.

Purr Blur: A later scene takes place at a gas station at night where a cat runs across an open space.

Final Mewsings: Cats understand security better than some people.
