Gunsmoke – “Belle’s Back”

by Ted Davis

Original Air Date: May 14, 1960

Directed by: Jesse Hibbs

Synopsis: Distinctly attractive troublemaker Belle Ainesly (Nita Talbot) returns to Dodge City after an absence of three years, and is ostracized by most of the townsfolk, perhaps for good reason, considering her intimate association with uncaged violent criminal Jess Crider (Henry Wills), but no-nonsense Marshall Matt Dillon (James Arness) is willing to let bygones be bygones, yet is ever on the alert for any bad-doings.

Kitty Cameo: During Marshall Dillon’s search for Jess in a barn, he hears a cat meow. He finds the ragged feline pilfering an unattended meal by the light of a nearby lantern left in the recently occupied stable.

Final Mewsings: Not even the redoubtable Marshall Dillion can distract a kitty from a convenient meal.
