Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Shemp and Larry find themselves involved with a golddigger (Jean Willes) whose husband, Moe, also causes them grief.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): In the second half of the short, Shemp tells about his encounter with the ring-grabbing woman. Finding himself in her penthouse when her husband Moe returns home, Shemp hides in the bedroom. As he is hiding in a steamer trunk, an orange cat is sitting to one side licking its paw.
As Shemp emerges from the trunk, the cat starts licking his face. Shemp panics, muttering, “A tiger!” and ducks back down. It’s likely something enticing was smeared on the cat’s paw and Shemp’s face to make him lick.
Later Shemp hides under the bed as Moe runs around with a gun looking for the other man. Meanwhile, the cat is sitting on a chair as a mouse runs by, finally jumping down and chasing the rodent.
The mouse naturally runs up Shemp’s leg, as does the cat! This causes Shemp to jump up and flip over the bed, Moe and all!
Final Mewsings: It’s not easy to hide from a cat.
