Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A father named Stephen faces the daunting task of doing his daughter Yuri’s hair on a very special day.
Cartoon Cat: The family owns a gray cat named Rocky who is a bit on the grumpy side. The short starts with Rocky waking Yuri (a sight well known to cat owners).
Yuri sits up and gives Rocky a hug, which he grudgingly allows. She then realizes it is an important day and throws her covers over Rocky when jumping out of bed.
Yuri wants to do her hair and Rocky helps her pick the hairstyle from website choices, although his help is mostly in nixing her choices. Rocky finally gives up and jumps down off the sink.
After Stephen unsuccessfully tries to do Yuri’s hair, she runs to her bedroom crying. Rocky gives Stephen a disapproving look.
When Stephen finally does her hair, even Rocky is surprised, complete with a blep!
Rocky joins in the heartfelt moment.
We won’t spoil the rest of this charming short, we encourage you to watch it for yourself!
Additional Note: In the concept art for Rocky found on the short’s Kickstarter page, it would appear the original idea was to make the cat Siamese.
Final Mewsings: Cats are glad they can groom their own fur.
Many thanks to Vivian Rapscallion for letting us know about the cat in this short!
