Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: Reunited, Sax and Happy make one last push to save Hailey. Blue and Isabella come to blows over a dark family secret and Amanda pursues a dangerous lead all by herself.
Kitty Cameos: Isabelle Scaramucci (Debi Mazar) visits her trusted old Italian seer, Assunta Bianchi (Antonia Ray), seeking help to stop her son Mikey from telling her brother Blue (Ritchie Coster) the old Don’s password. As Assunta starts to chant animatedly in Italian a longhair cat is lying on the table in front of her.
Searching for something on the table, Assunta triumphantly picks up a ball of red wool declaring it a “talisman”, going on to explain “as the thread weaves a tapestry over space and time so does your brother’s soul unwind.” “That isn’t a talisman,” says Isabelle, dismayed, “That is a ball of yarn!” “Talisman!” insists Assunta. “That is a cat toy!” fumes Isabelle, adding, “After twenty years of tithes and offerings and defending you this is all you’ve got for me – a cat toy?!”
Later Blue, injured and on the run, and wearing a distinctive red Christmas jumper, leaps over a chain link fence, catching a red thread from the jumper on the wire. An insert shows Assunta’s longhair cat playing with the ball of yarn.
Blue limps on and the jumper continues to unravel, this time accompanied by inserts of a gray and white shorthair cat with the yarn sparring with a black cat in the corner of the frame.
The jumper unravels further. And again there’s an insert of the fighting cats. Soon Blue falls to the ground allowing the pursuing detective Meredith McCarthy to approach and arrest him.
Final Mewsings: Cats always make us happy.
