Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains spoilers for this episode!
Synopsis: Mentally unstable Kristina Ferrickson (Kristina Holland), in thrall to a religious cult headed by the wizened Dr. Cambridge (Sam Jaffe) and former actress Laureen Lister (Bettye Ackerman), is in danger of losing not only her sizable fortune, but also her life. It’s up to rugged individualist private eye Harry Orwell (David Janssen) and his verbal sparring partner, mordant and efficient Lt. Trench (Anthony Zerbe), to untangle the mystery of a murder that has no victim, and to save both Kristina’s fortune and her life, though not necessarily in that order.
Kitty Cameo: In conversation with Harry, elderly, blind and wheelchair bound Roger Hastings (Peter Brocco) bemoans the fate of his lost daughter while petting a very contented white lap cat, devoting extra attention to those much beloved scritches around the ears and chin.
Final Mewsings: Who needs ungrateful offspring when you have a nice lap cat?
