Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A Prince of the mythical world decides to break the pact of peace with mankind and call forth The Golden Army to destroy the human world unless Hellboy (Ron Perlman) and his team mates can stop him.
Cat Cattle Call: Hellboy’s love of cats is again evident in this sequel. When we first see Hellboy in this film he is having an argument with Liz (Selma Blair) who has blown up and thrown Hellboy from his room. When Hellboy comes back he lifts the cover off the bed and tells his cats that it’s safe to come out. Several cats run out from beneath the bed.
The cats are seen in Hellboy and Liz’s room many times.
At one point the team goes looking for the portal to the Troll Market. They find it by locating a troll known as a Fragglewump disguised as an old bag woman (Jeanne Mockford). She is pushing a cartful of cats which Liz explains to Manning (Jeffrey Tambor) is what the troll eats.
Sure enough the lady stops and pulls out one of the cats to have a snack.
Hellboy is appalled and wants to stop her but the others don’t agree. Hellboy does step up and stop her from eating the cat.
Kitty Carnage Warning: Once the team enters the Troll Market there are several times where fried cats can be seen, as well as a cat in a cage on a troll’s back.
Final Mewsings: Crazy cat ladies aren’t crazy, they’re just hungry.
