Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A gangster named Buck (Stanley Fields) works to improve the deplorable conditions at a boys reform school, aided by his lawyer (Ronald Reagan), but they will have to expose the school’s tyrannical head, Krispan (Grant Mitchell).
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Early in the film, Tony, the leader of the kids, is locked in the cooler by Krispan as punishment. Joey (Bobby Jordan) comes to let him out. As they stand talking, a calico cat on a shelf knocks over a large can which crashes to the floor.
Tony and Joey hide as a security guard runs in to see what has caused the noise. The man turns on the lights and sees the can and the cat, then leaves. In true Dead End spirit, the cat looks as if she could be saying “I wasn’t doin’ nothin’!”
Final Mewsings: Let’s hope they don’t give the cat the ‘mark of the squealer’!
