Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Teenager Anton (Devon Sawa) is a complete slacker, but when his hand becomes possessed and starts killing people he has to get up off the couch and take action.
Featured Feline: During the first part of the film we get to see the family’s cat Bones, played by a beautiful white cat. Bones first appears in the opening scenes when Anton’s mom (Connie Ray) is nervously sitting in bed awaiting the return of her husband (Fred Willard) who is investigating a strange noise.
Anton’s mom goes to look for her husband and carries Bones with her down the hallway.
After the parents are killed, Anton wakes up the next morning when Bones comes into his attic room. Bones follows Anton down the stairs but Anton doesn’t notice that Bones stops to lick up some blood from the floor.
Anton can’t help but notice later when he realizes that Bones is playing with an eyeball.
Kitty Carnage Warning! Sadly for Bones he comes snooping around Anton’s possessed hand just when it has lost a fight for the remote control.
Obviously in a bad mood, the hand grabs Bones by the tail and Anton ends up spinning the cat in wide circles above his head before letting him fly out the window, across the street and into the bushes of the yard across the way. It’s very clear that a stuffed cat was used during this sequence.
Final Mewsings: Cats should steer clear of possessed hands when they’re in a bad mood!
