Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: The story of a young girl named Riley (voiced by Kaitlyn Dias) whose struggles are seen through the eyes of her emotions when her family moves from a small town to San Francisco.
Purr Blur: In one scene Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler) and Sadness (voiced by Phyllis Smith) run into Kylie’s imaginary friend named Bing Bong (voiced by Richard Kind). Bing Bong offers his bag to Joy to carry Kylie’s memories in and dumps it out for her. The last thing to leave the bag is a screeching tabby cat.
Cartoon Cats: In a very cute tag ending during the closing credits, various people seen in the film have their emotions revealed. At the very end a cat’s mind is shown (the design and color of the cat is the same as the one who jumped out of the bag earlier).
At first there are no emotions seen at all, but eventually they wander in, acting out their functions. The Disgust cat in the background is even coughing up a hairball!
Finally the Fear cat walks across the control board and plays with a lever, causing the cat to go crazy for no apparent reason.
Final Mewsings: Disney animators obviously know cats very well!
