Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A sequel to the Inspector Gadget film from Disney. This time Gadget (French Stewart) not only has to deal with an escaped and angry Claw (Tony Martin) but he has competition in the newest Gadget model, G2 (Elaine Hendrix).
Featured Feline: The cast and overall story of this film is less like the original movie and more like the cartoon series. Claw’s cat sidekick has changed once again. In the previous film the shorthaired white cat was named Sniffy. Here the cat is not named and is a longhaired white cat.
In the first scene which shows Claw with his minions and the cat there is a mistake, as the cat is seen walking away in one shot when in the next shot he is back in Claw’s lap.
The cat is seen alongside Claw in several scenes of the film.
At one point Claw discovers a drawing of himself done by his minions on a chalkboard which also includes the cat.
In this film, Penny (Caitlin Wachs) is more instrumental in the actual crime solving. She and Brain track Claw down to his hideout. As they snoop around, she shines a flashlight and illuminates the cat. Brain barks and the cat runs away.
Later the cat is present when Claw unveils his secret weapon. The animal must not be too impressed, though, as he heads back into the limousine.
The cat is also present when Claw and his henchman break into the federal gold reserve.
At the end Claw escapes in a rocket, the cat still by his side.
Final Mewsings: Cats can do so much more than just be decorative sidekicks.
