Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: After an outbreak of dog flu spreads in Megasaki, Japan, all dogs are sent to Trash Island where one boy faithfully looks for his lost pet.
Cartoon Cats: The background of the story tells how the Kobayashi cat-loving clan once tried to rid the land of dogs but were thwarted by a boy samurai years before.
In the modern day it is the city’s mayor, Kenji Kobayashi, who banishes all the dogs to Trash Island. Kobayashi and his followers all have cats.
During an interview, Kobayashi has his white cat on his lap. Amazingly when the show ends, he stands up and throws the cat to the floor before storming off.
The cats are with their owners practically every time they are seen.
It turns out that Kobayashi actually started the dog flu in order to rid the land of dogs once and for all. He and his cronies are sentenced to jail, where they are seen with their cats.
Final Mewsings: So why exactly did the cats have to go to prison?
Many thank to Nick Wale for letting us know about the cats in this film.
