Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A group of neighborhood kittens attend a theatrical show put on by Ko-ko the Clown and Fitz in this short from the Out of the Inkwell series.
Cat Burglars (Scene Stealers): Ko-ko and Fitz (who are animated) hang posters in various alleys which attract the attention of the kittens (which are real).
The kittens scurry from near and far to learn about the upcoming show.
At last they enter the Ko-Ko Theatre and find their seats.
Faux Cats: Some stuffed cats are already in attendance.
Ko-ko and Fitz perform various stunts on stage, much to the amusement of the real kittens.
At one point cat puppets applaud the performance.
During a scary segment titled “The Storm” the cat audience is shown as a drawing.
Real and fake cat audience members are shown between the acts.
Finally Ko-ko releases a barrel of animated mice into the theater and the kittens scramble to take chase, both in the audience and on stage.
The title is a truncated version of the popular saying, “It’s the Cat’s Meow,” or even “It’s the Cat’s Pajamas,” meaning something is of high quality.
Final Mewsings: Stuffed kittens and puppets are no substitutes for real kittens.
