Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: An updated version of the classic tale Jack and the Beanstalk finds poor farm boy Jack (Nicholas Hoult) trying to aid Princess Isabelle (Eleanor Tomlinson) when she is swept up to the sky by a giant beanstalk.
Kitty Cameo: In the farmhouse where Jack lives is an orange cat which is seen several times early in the film. The cat witnesses one of the magic beans which Jack has brought home slip between the floorboards.
Later Jack sees the cat eyeing him and feels guilty enough to go after his uncle. But just then Princess Isabelle shows up unexpectedly.
As the Princess and Jack talk, the cat knows something is happening under the floorboards.
As rain leaks through the roof, the beanstalk sprouts and tendrils shoot up through the floor. The cat is quick to run out the door.
The cat is last seen watching the beanstalk as it grows taller and taller, taking Jack and Isabelle with it.
The animal coordinator on the film was Gill Raddings of Stunt Dogs & Animals.
Final Mewsings: Cats prefer just to observe when crazy things start to happen.
Many thanks to Vanessa for letting us know about the cat in this film!
