Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Jakob (Robin Williams) is a restaurant owner in a ghetto during World War II who shares a radio report he’s heard about the Russian army advancing to keep up the hopes of his neighbors, leading to complications.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Jakob comes across a girl named Lina (Hannah Taylor Gordon) who escaped from a deportation train headed to a concentration camp. Jakob brings the girl back to his home and is leading her upstairs to sleep when a small tabby kitten mews at them from behind some railings.
Lina calls to the cat but Jakob stops her, telling her to leave the cat alone. He hisses at the kitten and it runs away. Jakob goes on to say that he doesn’t want to see Lina trying to catch or eat the cat, that any cat that can be caught is sick.
Final Mewsings: Cats also suffer during war.
Many thanks to Mark Murton for letting us know about the cat in this film.
