Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: College students and siblings Darry (Justin Long) and Trish (Gina Philips) are heading home on a remote stretch of Florida highway when they find themselves the target of a bizarre serial killer.
Cat Cattle Call: At one point Darry and Trish stop outside a remote, desolate-looking house where they decide to ask for a phone. The house is occupied by a suspicious older woman (Eileen Brennan) who accuses them of wanting to call the authorites about her cats. A few cats appear in the windows of her screened-in porch as she talks.
Eventually it is revealed that she owns more than just a few cats, and pretty soon every window of the patio is filled. Reportedly the screens were smeared with tuna to get the cats to come to them.
The cats start to growl and get nervous, sensing danger or evil is nearby. Sure enough the killer is in the woman’s garden.
The creature flies over the house and gets inside. The cats start to screech and the cat lady races indoors with a shotgun. As she opens the door to the porch, cats come streaming out of the house.
Darry is startled because a psychic woman had told him earlier she had pictured him with many cats.
Final Mewsings: Unlike people in horror films, cats know when it’s time to get going!
