Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Count Screwloose (voiced by Mel Blanc) and J.R. the Wonder Dog hold a $10,000 swing contest with the idea of skipping town with the money, but a couple of toughs from the Citizens for Fair Play committee force them to actually hold the contest.
Cartoon Cat: After seeing how well an ostrich is doing with a striptease, Screwloose gets the idea to dress J.R. as an ostrich to take the bird’s place. A couple of penguins (at least we think they’re supposed to be penguins) distract J.R. with a box of hot dogs, at the bottom of which is a black cat. The string of dogs is wrapped around the cat’s neck so he is pulled across the stage as J.R. inhales the franks.

After the cat bumps into him, J.R. reacts and a fight begins between the pair.

Mostly shown in blurred whirlwinds, the fight continues, even though J.R. slips away to take a bow and the cat drags him back.

Screwloose tries to intervene with a cane but just gets pulled into the melee.

The cat pauses in the fight to throw Screwloose out into an alley.

Final Mewsings: Cats and dogs (even hot dogs) don’t always get along well.
