Miramax
Starring: Meg Ryan, Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber
Directed by: James Mangold
Synopsis: Kate McKay (Meg Ryan) is first flustered by and then intrigued with the mysterious stranger named Leopold (Hugh Jackman) who shows up in her ex-boyfriend, Stuart’s (Liev Schreiber) apartment one night, not knowing whether or not to believe he is a Duke who lived 200 years ago and was brought to the future by said ex.
Kitty Cameo: The morning after Leopold arrives in the future, he is sleeping on Stuart’s couch. A gray shorthair cat can be seen sitting outside the window, looking in.
Stuart’s dog Bart is in the kitchen behind a barrier fence. He sees the cat and starts to bark, causing the cat to run away.
What isn’t clear is whether or not the cat is supposed to be Kate’s. The cat never shows up in the film again but Kate has some cat statues and knick knacks in her apartment. This short part was played by three cat actors named Mike, Joe and Krista.
Final Mewsings: Cats like looking both in and out of windows.
