This review contains a severe Kitty Carnage Warning!
Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Eight months after a botched job, ex-army hit-men Jay (Neil Maskell) and Gal (Michael Smiley) take a new assignment with the promise of a big pay-off for three killings. What starts off as an easy task soon unravels, sending Jay into the heart of darkness.
Kitty Cameo: After a disastrous dinner party thrown by Jay and his wife Shel (MyAnna Bunning) their black cat is seen helping to clear up the dishes by nibbling on the leftovers on the table.
This is the only time the cat is seen alive as his next appearance is when Shel finds his mutilated body hanging outside the house as a warning to Jay from the sinister forces arrayed against him.
The animal handler on the film was Sue Clark. It has been reported on IMDb trivia that the cat was suffering from a cold at the time of the shoot. Also a trainer was quoted as saying “You can’t use the cats outdoors because cats don’t act outdoors.” Because of this assertion a scene with the cat watching “smugly” from the shrubs was removed from the story.
Final Mewsings: Cat killers belong on a special Kill List all their own.
