Synopsis: Hafiz (Ronald Coleman) is King of the Beggars and likes to pass himself off as a Prince at night and woo the Vizier’s prize woman, Jamilla (Marlene Dietrich).  Meanwhile the Caliph (James Craig) likes to pose as the son of a gardner and woo Hafiz’s daughter Marsinah (Joy Ann Page).

Cat Burglars (Scene Stealers): Early in the film Hafiz returns home to don his disguise as a Prince. Karsha (Florence Bates) is Marsinah’s lady in waiting and fetches a cloth for Hafiz’s turban from a basket of clothes where a group of kittens and their mother are resting.  She apologizes to the kittens as she removes the cloth, explaining that Hafiz will be going out with royalty that night.

The kittens are seen again as Hafiz gets ready to leave and Karsha is pouring out some milk for them from a pitcher.

Final Mewsings: Kittens don’t need to pretend to be anything but cute.
