Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains slight spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: A vacationing couple, Tobias (Leif Edlund) and Elin (Ylva Gallon) find themselves caught in a terrifying loop of events where they are menaced by three freakish fantasy characters come to life in this slow unnerving film.
Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): One of the characters taunting the couple in the woods is a white cat who appears out of nowhere and just as mysteriously disappears.
The cat is never seen in the company of the other characters and seems to be some kind of foreshadowing of things not being quite right in this universe. As in one scene when the couple have driven far away from their original campsite and yet the cat runs across the road in front of them.
Eventually the cat becomes a guide. After only appearing twice he shows up sitting behind the couple’s car.
The cat leads Elin through the woods to a small house where she watches a shadow puppet presentation of their life situation.
Even though the cat has very few appearances in the film he is displayed prominently on the movie’s poster.
Final Mewsings: Cats can cause terror or bring comfort. It’s up to you to decide which.
