Synopsis: Biopic about Leslie Carter (Miriam Hopkins), a Chicago society woman who loses her son in a messy divorce and takes to the stage to raise the money to win him back.

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): In one quick scene, producer David Belasco (Claude Rains), is coaching Leslie and is drilling instructions into her head as she sits, hungry, at a table. He is eating a sandwich and he pours some milk into a saucer for a tabby kitten.

Leslie watches them eat as David makes her continue working through her hunger.
