Synopsis: Marshal Dan Troop (John Russell) arrives in Laramie where he has been hired as the town’s new marshal with the hopes he will clean up the rampant crime. He takes it upon himself to find the killers of the former marshal and to hire a deputy, although he is reluctant to give the position to the young Johnny McKay (Peter Brown).
Kitty Cameo: When Marshal Troop arrives in town he breaks into the jailhouse and finds it neglected and covered with dust. A cat meows and Troop comments on how the cat hasn’t kept the place up.
Later two townspeople come to greet their new Marshal and insinuate that they expect him to play ball with them. The cat jumps up on the desk and one of the men tells it to shoo. Troop tells the man the cat is okay and comments on how cats are independent, drawing a correlation between the feline and himself.
Final Mewsings: You can lock a cat up in a jailhouse but you can’t make him clean.
