Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Dog-loving Laura Haley (Cassidy Gifford) and cat-loving Spencer Hodkins (Wyatt Nash) couldn’t be more opposite from each other; so mishaps ensue when the two are booked for the same vacation house at the same time.
Featured Feline: Spencer owns a beautiful long-haired black cat named Mozart (who is a girl, by the way) while Laura owns a lovable beagle named Frank. Frank and Mozart first come in contact in a hotel lobby where they are checking out. Frank runs to Mozart’s carrier and makes the cat hiss.
Laura and Spencer arrive at the vacation home at different times and don’t know the other is there until Frank chases after Mozart again, eventually scaring the cat under the bed. Frustrated by the situation, Laura and Spencer eventually decide to try to make it work since no other rentals are available.
Spencer has a girlfriend back home but doesn’t tell her about Laura staying with them. He thinks Mozart is judging him for this.
Spencer is also working on an important thesis, which Mozart accidentally messes up when Frank chases him through the house again.
As much as Laura and Spencer butt heads, they also find themselves becoming fond of each other. They are surprised to see Mozart and Frank have already formed a bond.
After several miscommunications, Spencer decides to leave. This makes Mozart sad. She doesn’t want to leave her buddy Frank.
As is the case in these romantic Hallmark movies, things have a way of working out in the end.
Final Mewsings: We can learn a lot from cats and dogs.
