Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Screen adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel finds the March family separated during the Civil War and the young sisters dealing with life and love.
Cat Burglars (Scene Stealers): Early in the film Beth (Jean Parker) is seen playing a piano. At her feet is a basket of kittens who jump out to approach her feet as she pushes the pedals.
Beth stoops down to gather the kittens back into the basket.
As Beth walks away, one orange tabby kitten climbs back out of the basket.
Later in the film the girls hear that their neighbor, Laurie (Douglass Montgomery) has been unwell. Jo (Katharine Hepburn) calls on him and brings him food and the basket of kittens, which she explains Beth sent to him.
Jo states that she knows boys aren’t into kittens but Laurie accepts them, commenting that they might liven the place up.
As Laurie takes the basket, the orange tabby is again looking to try to jump out.
Laurie then invites Jo to tea. He sets the basket of kittens on a couch as the two sit a small distance away. In the background the kittens can be seen playing in the basket and the orange tabby kitten pops up several times.
Final Mewsings: Kittens are master scene stealers!
