Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!

Synopsis: Mark (Chris Kroesen) is a boy who is granted three wishes by a magic Christmas tree given to him by a witch (Valerie Hobbs) after he does her a favor.

Cat Burglar (Scene Stealer): Mark is planning on sneaking onto the old woman’s property to prove she is not a witch. As he and his friends approach, the woman is calling for her very vocal pet black cat Lucifer, who is up in a tree in front of her house.

When the witch catches Mark, she asks if he will do her a favor and climb the tree to get Lucifer down. Mark notes that the cat doesn’t look very friendly but she assures him that Lucifer wouldn’t hurt a fly. Lucifer constantly meows in a jarring ragged way which was likely taken from some sound effects record (the overuse of which is the source of most of the sounds in the film).

Mark struggles to climb the tree as Lucifer climbs out further onto a branch.

Finally Mark loses his grip and falls from the tree, knocking himself unconsious. Lucifer then jumps down out of the tree onto the woman’s shoulder.

Final Mewsings: Cats don’t always need to be rescued from trees, but they do need to be rescued from bad movies!
