Make Haste to Live (1954)

by Ted Davis

Directed by: William Seiter

Synopsis: A 1950s Woman-in-Peril genre movie, in which solid small-town business owner Crystal Benson (Dorothy McGuire), is revisited by her criminally dangerous and vengeful husband Steve Blackford (Stephen McNally), from whom she escaped eighteen years earlier by using a questionable tactic. The acting by McGuire and McNally helps compensate for the plot lapses.

Purr Blur: Early in the movie, while Crystal and her spunky daughter Randy (Mary Murphy) enjoy an abbreviated breakfast on the back patio, a bicolor cat noses about on a separate table.

Final Mewsings: Make haste to pay attention or you’ll miss the unobtrusive cat.
