Make Mine a Million (1959)

by Linda Kay

Directed by: Lance Comfort

Synopsis: Arthur Ashton (Arthur Askey) is a flunky who works for a television station and manages to sneak an ad for his friend’s soap powder, Bonko, on the air, causing the product to soar in popularity.

Purr Blur: Early in the film Arthur is bragging to a new page about how he knows all the famous stars who come to the studio. Several big name celebrities pass by on their way out and make it clear they don’t know Arthur at all. The page is unimpressed, snarling, “You don’t know pussy!” before walking away. As Arthur is about to leave he looks down and says, “Goodnight, Pussy!” A black cat scurries away from him quickly.
