Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Home movie footage shows two tabby cats with their black kittens.
Reality Cats: This short film begins with a tabby cat in a yard.
The cat impressively climbs a thin wooden pole to get to an upper window ledge.
There are two tabby cats, reportedly named Tigerli and Blüesli (possibly sisters?) who seem to have given birth to one black kitten each at around the same time. They each have their own cardboard box.
A curious dog sniffs at the kittens. The mama cats are very patient about this.
The black kittens are simply adorable!
One of the mama cats gets a handout from the table.
The mama cats preen each other.
The kittens play as the mothers rest.
One of the kittens is playing with a dead gopher which one of the mama cats has caught. The kitten takes the gopher into a barn or storage room and comes out licking its lips.
The cats and kittens then retire to this indoor area to rest.
It is not clear if the person who shot this footage was Alfred Roth, the noted architect. What is known is it was filmed in Diepoldsau Switzerland in the summer of 1955.
Final Mewsings: People were filming their cats way before cell phones!
