Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: June (Storm Reid) is a feisty teenager who doesn’t always get along with her mom Grace (Nia Long) or Grace’s new boyfriend Kevin (Ken Leung), but when the pair go missing on a trip to Columbia June uses her computer sleuthing skills to uncover an incredibly complicated web of secrets and horrors.
Kitty Cameo: The opening scenes are of camcorder footage from a trip June made with her mom and dad (Tim Griffin) when she was little. The family owns a blue kitten named Caesar who is being cradled on dad’s lap as he plays with the younger June (Ava Lee).
Most of the rest of the movie is seen through June’s laptop computer and Caesar, now a grown cat, is often seen in the background in various parts of the house.
Caesar is also the lock screen on June’s smart phone.
Relegated to these mostly inconsequential background moments, Caesar does have one slightly notable appearance closer to the end of the movie when June receives a surprise visitor.
The animal wranglers on the film were David Meyers, Tracey Kelly, Denise Saunders and Tony Suffredini with Aiesha Colvin acting as the American Humane Rep.
Final Mewsings: For being a cat owner, June didn’t have nearly enough photos of Caesar.
Many thanks to Laura for letting us know about the cat in this film.
