Cat Out of the Bag Alert! This review contains some spoilers for this film!
Synopsis: Air traffic controller Max Fielder (Chevy Chase) is splashed with radioactive waste and gains telekinetic powers which he uses to try to win back his girlfriend Darcy (Patti D’Arbanville).
Kitty Cameo: Near the beginning of the film Max returns home to find a recording on the answering machine from his girlfriend Darcy telling him she has moved out and taken the cat with her. She has left the litter box behind, which figures in a later scene. Max goes out to their favorite restaurant where the waiter (Henry Corden) tells him he has saved scraps for the cat. The longhair white cat doesn’t actually turn up until later when Darcy invites Max up to her apartment. The cat is sitting beside a bottle of champagne and two glasses on a table next to the bed where the couple are lying.
Max starts to use his telekenisis to pleasure Darcy and the cat looks confused and unamused as she writhes around.
There is a blooper when the cat is shown jumping down from the stand during one of these convulsions but is there again in the next shot when Darcy is thrown back on the bed.
Other cat-related moments in the film include a Poor Cat Screech heard as Max and Lorraine (Mary Kay Place) enter a club and when Dorita (Nell Carter) is turned upside down she has black cats on her underwear.
Final Mewsings: Cats don’t find prolonged orgasms particularly funny.
