Cat Out of the Bag Alert!  This review contains spoilers for this episode!

Synopsis: Murphy Brown (Candice Bergen) is thrilled when she is invited by Hillary Clinton to a Women in Journalism luncheon at the White House despite her past history of fiascos at the President’s residence.  And for once everything goes smoothly . . . except for the fact that First Cat Socks has stowed away in Murphy’s car.

Featured Feline: This is a hilarious episode which throws the spotlight on the popularity of the Clinton’s cat, Socks.  When Murphy leaves the White House in her car she brags on the phone that the event was without incident and then starts singing to the music playing, unaware that Socks is in the car with her.

The cat(s) who play Socks are adorable tuxedo cats perfect for the part.

By the time Murphy discovers she has Socks the news is filled with stories about the missing cat.  She sneaks Socks into the FYI offices where she lets her coworkers in on the fact that she him.  No one seems to believe the “kit”napping was an accident.

Unable to face the embarrassment of taking Socks back to the White House and being banned again, Murphy takes Socks home and tries to feed him, but he turns his nose up at every can of cat food.  Even her permanent painter Eldin (Robert Pastorelli) can’t entice Socks to eat.

Eventually Murphy devises a way to return Socks without getting into trouble.  It’s a clever episode with a lot of laughs and one very cute cat guest star!
